The Star and Advertiser April 25 1890

At Croydon Police Court on Monday, Charles West was sentenced to two months’ imprisonment for being in a bedroom for an unlawful purpose.
West was found in a bedroom of a North End house by inhabitant Miss Summers – who immediately collared him.
A severe struggle ensued and the plucky lady was dragged to the top of the stairs but she retained her iron-like grip and called for help.
With the aid of a servant West was secured until the police arrived.
