Thousands board ships from Merseyside

During the month of March the number of emigrants leaving the Mersey was 4315 – an increase of 1732 in February. Of these, 29 ships went to the United States with 3490 people – 2133 English, 16 Scottish, 375 Iris and 966 foreigners. And to Victoria one ship with 100. Not under the ACt there sailed nine to the United States with 371 – 280 English, 61 Irish, 28 foreigners and two unknown. To Nova Scotia three ships with 89 – 81 English, three Scottish and five foreigners. One ship to Victoria with 46 – 24 English, seven Scottish and nine Irish. And to other ports a total of 24 ships carrying 223 people.
