Mary Mead a servant at Blackfordby Vicarage near Leicester and looking up she saw a man standing over her with a lit match. The match burned out and he seized the terrified girl by the arm. “God help me!”, she screamed. And God did come to her aid in the form of the Reverend Lloyd Evans. Hearing her cries he appeared armed with a revolver. He grabbed the man demanding an explanation. The prowler said he was a collier named James Cole Kinsey and claimed he entered the house as he heard a noise and saw a tall dark man moving about. The police were alerted and Kinsey was committed for trial.
