A Scottish 105-year-old has put her longevity down to singing . . . to her 84 grandchildren.
Aberdeen quine Lottie Milne notched up her milestone birthday on Tuesday and shows no sign of letting up.
Sprightly Lottie’s favourite song is ‘If I Had My Life to Live Over’ though she hardly needs another one.
Proud great-granddaughter Roseann Hunter said chirpy Lottie’s passions in life are singing and her family.
“She has a brilliant voice,” said 41-year-old Roseann.
“Her favourite song is ‘If I Had My Life to Live Over’ and her great saying has always been ‘One day at a time’.”
Lottie married childhood sweetheart Alfie Shand in Aberdeen and went on the have seven children including a set of triplets.
Alfie died 50 years ago but Lottie found love again at the grand age of 73 when she tied the knot with Andy Milne who died in 1996.
Lottie boasts 84 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
After enjoying a cuddle with 84th grandson Jack, Lottie said: “I have really enjoyed my life and have always taken things one day at a time.
“I still have the occasional sherry – a little bit of what you fancy does you good.”
When asked what her secret to a long and happy life was, Lottie said: “That’s my secret.”
The former comb factory worker and hospital cleaner now lives at Beach Court Nursing Home in Aberdeen where she still bashes out a song for staff and residents.
